Goodbye Joint Pain – Hello Old Friend – Liberation of a Website

Liberation of a Website.

If you are from the Land of the Rising Sun, Welcome!  If you are confused — here’s what happened.

In late 2015 my payment to renew my domain BrianAlanBurhoe.com was due.  Money was tight and I had to wait a couple days to pay it.  When I did, my site was down.  And somebody wanted me to pay $5000 to get it back.

Who would want my little bunch of rants, recipes and animal stories?

Turns out that back then Google rated you by your back-links (remember PR?).  And my DotCom (titled: A CULINARY MYSTERY TOUR – A Literary Chef) did have some strong incoming links from readers, chefs, Mounties, dog people, horse people, wilderness lovers, fellow writers, Wikipedia, universities, even a few popular psychics and spiritual folk.

Wayback Machine shows that on January 1, 2016, a dark blue page had taken over my site saying, “This domain name may be for sale.  Please click here to inquire.”  It was put there by newvcorp.com.

“Goodbye to joint pain.”

Shortly after that, Japanese lettering appeared, and a photo featuring a wonderful old couple (don’t you just wanna give ’em a big bear hug?) with the tagline “Goodbye to joint pain with Tamagosamin.”

Their site sold health supplements for all kinds of pain and suffering: joint pain, muscle pain, lower back pain, arthritis, gastritis, bronchitis, tonsillitis, dermatitis, pharyngitis, gout, whiplash, PMS and more.  More?

And, beneath an image of the cutest baby chicks, Google Translator said this: “Why McKinsey adopted this official website for the cheapest purchase of Tamagosamin — How much does an idiot Tamagosamin cost?  Come in!”  Although that may not be an accurate translation.

The wise Old Couple also gave sage medical advice, such as “If you don’t misuse the disease, the soles of your knees will hurt.”

If you got your Tamagosamin from this Couple, I hope you found some relief.

After a few years, the supplement site became a Japan-based outlet for American-style bedroom furniture, screen dividers and classy chandeliers.  And after that, Japanese Real Estate — “I want to sell my house high!”

“Hello Old Friend.”

And then, early on a crisp December day (Dec 21, 2021), I sat up in bed.  I’d just had a dream in which I was told my site was on the loose and fancy-free.  Snatched up my laptop.  Found Bluehost.  It WAS available!

And I brought my First Domain back home to Papa.

Not that I’d just been sitting around all these years waiting for the Liberation of BrianAlanBurhoe.com.  Want to know what I was up to?  See my CivilizedBears.com…
